Main Street Program (OPWDD)
LIFE at RCIL's Main Street Program helps youth with developmental disabilities who have experienced or are at risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system, homelessness, or school expulsion. We provide personalized assistance to help them overcome challenges and get back on the right track.
Main Street participants receive a comprehensive assessment to identify potential crises and the risk of juvenile justice involvement. Our team works closely with each individual and their family to develop a personalized family and support plan that highlights their strengths, addresses challenges, and helps minimize future risks.

Who We Serve
- Main Street works with youth and young adults up to age 22.
- Services are available for individuals who are OPWDD-eligible.
- Must have a documented developmental disability.

Payment Options
- If enrolled in Self-Direction (SD), the cost of the service must be included in their SD Budget. If not, the service is free.

FAQs
Are there programs that may help my at-risk child develop skills to manage behaviors in school and/or at home?
Main Street Program through LIFE at RCIL works with youth and young adults (up to age 22) who are eligible to receive services through the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and who may need assistance with increasing pro-social behaviors and/or developing skills to help with managing crisis situations. We also work with youth and young adults who may be experiencing low self-esteem or an overall lack of motivation, are at-risk of involvement, or have had previous involvement, with the juvenile justice system, are at-risk of becoming homeless or have been homeless, or are at-risk of dropping out of school or have been expelled.
Is there a program that could regularly provide a person who can offer guidance and support for my at-risk child?
The Main Street Program through LIFE at RCIL provides crisis response and intervention services. Staff members will often become a “go to” person for a youth or young adult who is facing a crisis.
Can the Main Street Program help my child from becoming involved in the Juvenile Justice System?
The Main Street Program through LIFE at RCIL can help to prevent youth from entering the Juvenile Justice System by developing the required skills and knowledge that may help them make positive choices and reduce problem behaviors.
