Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Lead day-to-day finance operations of budgeting, financial reporting and payroll. Supervises a team with responsibility over payroll and financial reports.
- Oversight of monthly internal reports for applicable financial departments and distributes accordingly to program managers. Meet with programs managers on a monthly basis.
- Oversee reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversight of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports as required by funders. Adhere to all reporting deadlines.
- Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes and keeps the Comptroller abreast of RCIL’s financial status.
- Maintain procedures and policies related to financial reporting and payroll.
- Provides leadership in strengthening internal communication with staff at all levels throughout the organization and creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Technology savvy with advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software. Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to program departments.
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, organizational and computer skills, as well as the ability to exercise professional discretion and discernment, independent judgement, and business acumen.
- Mastery of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls and financial reporting.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience
- Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in finance, business administration or accounting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license strongly preferred, though a Master of Business Administration (MBA) may be considered. Proof of license and/or degree required.
- A minimum of seven years of accounting and finance experience with a nonprofit that has multiple complex programs or experience with a company using cost accounting. Expertise in GAAP accounting, financial reporting and analysis, and payroll. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience directing technical, professional and clerical personnel.
